The Tumbling Lassie: Live at Dean Castle!

Theatre Alliance are heading to the Big Top as part of the ‘Live at Dean Castle’ Season this Summer with our brand new musical ‘The Tumbling Lassie’.

In 1687, a remarkable legal case unfolded in the Scottish court.    The Tumbling Lassie brings the story of this largely forgotten but profoundly significant moment in Scottish legal history to life. The Tumbling Lassie herself, lost to history without even a recorded name, becomes the centre of our story – not merely a victim, but a symbol of resilience, freedom and the enduring fight against human trafficking and modern slavery. It challenges us to reflect on how far we have come – and how far we still have to go – in safeguarding the rights and dignity of the most vulnerable in society. This production is more than a window to the past – it is a call to action. Today, millions around the world still suffer in conditions of slavery and human trafficking.

We are proud to bring this powerful story to the stage, honouring the tumbling lassie herself and all those who continue the struggle for freedom today.

This production proudly acknowledges the work of The Tumbling Lassie Committee, a Scottish-based initiative named after the historic case, which raises awareness and funds to support victims of modern slavery and human trafficking. Through events, outreach, and advocacy, the Committee keeps the legacy of the tumbling lassie alive by helping those whose freedom is still at risk.

Last Orders at the Silver Wings Society

Step inside the Silver Wings Society, a hidden 1920s speakeasy where the Charleston reigns and the spirit of rebellion lingers in the air.

This immersive cabaret experience brings to life the extraordinary story of Elsie Mackay,  Scotland’s daring daughter, a society star who refused to stay grounded. Ahead of her time, Elsie embodied the spirit of the modern woman — independent, ambitious, and unafraid to challenge the limits placed upon her. Breaking barriers and defying gravity, Elsie became the first Scottish woman to attempt a flight across the Atlantic – a daring journey that matched her untamed ambition. Actress, aristocrat, and aviation pioneer, Elsie’s life unfolds around you through music, dance and storytelling, drawing you into a world of glamour, drive, and defiance.

So take your seat and raise a glass. Last Orders at the Silver Wings Society is ready for departure.     (A licensed bar is available at this event)
